NEBOSH Construction
Certificate Courses

Introduction

The NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety to give it its full title, is one of the most recognised health and safety qualificatons in the construction industry. It is aimed primarily at managers, supervisers, CDM co-ordinators and anyone else who is responsible for making sure that construction activities under their control are undertaken safely.

The scope of the NEBOSH Construction Certificate also makes it suitable for managers and supervisors who are not specifically in the construction industry, but have a need to oversee the safe construction of temporary workplaces and structures. An example includes outside broadcasting of sporting events such as golf tournaments where temporary stands, television camera stands etc. need to be erected.

Assessment

This accredited NEBOSH qualification is assessed by one exam which lasts 2 hours, and a workplace-based practical fire risk assessment project. The exam is conducted in our training centres at the end of your course, and the project is completed in your own workplace. The project should take no longer than 3 hours to complete and you will have 7 days from the end of the course to return it to us by post.

If you are taking the full NEBOSH Fire Certificate course, you will also have an exam at the end of the NGC1 unit.

Certification

Those who successfully complete the course and pass the assessments are awarded the official NEBOSH Fire Safety & Risk Management Certificate. Certificates are forwarded directly to the candidate by NEBOSH approximately 16 weeks after the completion of the course although results are usually issued within 10 weeks.

How Are Courses Run?

All of our NEBOSH Construction Certificate courses are run as full-time block weeks, Monday to Friday 9am until approximately 5pm. Whilst other health and safety training providers may attempt to offer the NEBOSH Construction Certificate in other formats such as e-learning courses, distance learning, one day a week/month etc, in our many years of experience we have consistently found that full-time block courses with exams scheduled straight after equates to a significantly improved likelihood of delegates passing all of the assessments required for actually achieving the qualification.

Whilst some providers will be more than happy to take your money, sign you up for an online/distance learning course or one which is strung out for months and let you try and struggle your way though it, at ATC Risk management we care more about providing delegates with the best possible chance of learning the information, passing the exams and acquiring the NEBOSH Construction Certificate without the need for costly and time-consuming exam re-sits.

Scheduled Courses

At ATC Risk Management, we offer the NEBOSH Construction Certificate in two ways: the full course and a conversion course. The full NEBOSH Construction Certificate course contains the mandatory NGC1 unit, which is the same unit that is taught in the NEBOSH General Certificate syllabus. This means that if you have already taken and passed the NEBOSH General Certificate in the last five years, you don't need to repeat this NGC1 unit. Candidates in this position can take the NEBOSH Construction Certificate conversion course which does not repeat this unit and so is both shorter in duration and less expensive than the full course.

The certificate achieved at the end of both courses is the same, i.e. the official NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety Certificate; it just means that thanks to the modular make-up of the qualifications those who have already achieved the NGC1 unit do not have to do it all again!
