NEBOSH General Certificate or Manual Handling Training?
Manual handling-related injuries are some of the most common reasons for company employees to be forced to take time off to recover. This is because they can come in a variety of forms and are so quick and easy to bring about, but at the same time can be extremely painful and debilitating, and take quite a long time to heal. This combination of a high probability of suffering a manual handling injury no matter what the industry, the financial consequences and the inconvenience to the employer of having employees absent from the workplace all culminate in manual handling training being high up on the list of priorities when an organisation is putting its health and safety training requirements together.
A bespoke, in-house manual handling course can concentrate on the exact conditions, loads and methods of manipulation for the workplace in question, rather than a generic course which simply teaches basic theory to course attendees who may switch off if they feel parts of it are not relevant to their work activities.
Manual handling is so important that it is covered in certain accredited courses like the NEBOSH General Certificate which has a section on musculoskeletal hazards and risk control. Depending upon your requirements, budget and number of delegates requiring training the NEBOSH General Certificate may be enough, whereas for others a dedicated manual handling course is likely to be more appropriate.

Need an Accredited Course?
Along with designing bespoke health and safety training programmes, we also run the accredited NEBOSH, IOSH and ConstructionSkills (CSkills) health and safety courses as open courses at selected venues across the UK, as well as in-house for those companies who have a number of employees requiring the training, as it will be much more cost effective than sending them all onto a scheduled open course.
For more information please call 0115 984 9940 to discuss the options or send us an online contact form. Alternatively, use the "Courses" menu at the top of the page to view the courses and qualifications for the various awarding bodies.
These courses form the basis for our in-house training programmes. They can either be run as they are if the outline is exactly what you want, or can be be modified to suit the individual requirements of your organisation. Two or more can also be combined to tailor a bespoke training session for you.
