Who is Sharps Training For?
This health and safety training course is aimed at operatives who work with sharps, along with supervisors and managers who control such activities. It is designed to provide an insight to some of the issues associated with the incorrect handling of sharp objects as well as health risks, and ensuring the safe disposal and handling of these implements. The Sharps Training course is also an ideal course to top-up existing knowledge and tool box training, or for managers needing to understand the issues being faced by their staff, and offers ideas and solutions to help deal with these issues.
Sharps training is extremely important for anyone whose work activities mean there is the possibility of them coming into contact with sharp objects which may cause injury or illness. Whilst the most obvious occupations are doctors and hospital workers, as well as those performing searches such as the police and customs officials, the reality is that anybody who has the possibility to come into contact with sharp objects would benefit from this particular health and safety training course.
What Does the Sharps Training Course Cover?
The two main dangers from sharps is the potential for cuts and lacerations leading to blood loss and infection, and the contracting of certain diseases from needles or medical equipment. At ATC Risk Management, our sharps training courses will cover not only preventative measures and safe handling techniques for sharps, but will also look at the correct disposal of sharp objects to prevent injury to other people. The courses also cover relevant health and safety legislation covering the disposal of sharps.
Not only will our sharps training courses be suitable for those who may come into contact with sharp implements, it will also be useful for managers and supervisors as it will allow them to better understand the risks facing their staff, enabling them to discuss with staff much more effectively the control measures that need to be put in place.
Our health and safety consultants are qualified and experienced professionals with an appropriate background in this topic. All consultants hold professional membership of the chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
