Introduction to the NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental Management

The NEBOSH Environmental Diploma is intended for safety professionals and managers who are taking on environmental responsibilities. It is designed for individuals with responsibilities for the management of environmental risk in relation to the damage caused by work activities. The qualification will be invaluable for those aiming to develop and implement effective environmental management systems within their organisations.


Holders of the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma will be able to advise their organisation on the environmental impacts of their activities, on their legal obligations and the means of continuously improving their environmental performance as part of an integrated management approach.


A background knowledge of health and safety is recommended.


The academic benefits of the NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental Management

Upon successful completion of the diploma, holders of this qualification may use the designatory letters EnvDipNEBOSH after their name. IOSH CPD participants may allocate CPD credits for attendance on this course. In addition, holders of the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma are eligible for Specialist Membership of IIRSM (SIIRSM).

  • Control strategies for environmental risks
  • Monitoring, review and audits
  • Developments in environmental legislation
  • Framework for environmental legislation and methods of enforcement
  • Public access to environmental information
  • Civil liability relating to environmental pollution
  • Solid and liquid wastes
  • Gaseous and particulate releases to atmosphere (air pollution)
  • Water resource management
  • Control of environmental nuisance
  • Hazardous substances (COSHH)
  • Environmental implications of development and land use
  • Energy use and efficiency

  • Course Duration

    This NEBOSH course is delivered over 15 days, with 1 revision day and exam.


    Examination

    This NEBOSH accredited qualification is assessed by one exam (lasting 3 hours) and a workplace-based project assessed via completion of an environmental audit proforma. The exam is conducted in our training centres at the end of your course, and the project is completed in your own workplace.


    Certification

    On successful passing of the exam and project, you will receive the NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental Management. Certificates are forwarded by NEBOSH approximately 16 weeks after the completion of the course although results are usually issued within 10 weeks.
