Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) - Refresher Course

The 2-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Refresher course is for those who have already passed the full 5-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course and can provide proof of attendance. The SMSTS Refresher course aims to bring the delegate's health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The SMSTS Refresher course includes a wide range of topics, many building on the previous 5-day SMSTS course programme, as well as introducing new subjects.

The main objectives of the SMSTS Refresher course are to improve awareness of recent developments in construction, legislation, health, safety, welfare and environmental health and safety issues; as well as being able to identify measures that will assist the practical implementation of responsibilities established by new legislation and new working practices.

After completing the SMSTS Refresher course, delegates should be:

• aware of, and able to, implement all updated health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them in their role as a health and safety manager


• aware of, and able to, implement new guidance and industry best practice


• more aware of their health and safety duties and responsibilities

SMSTS Refresher Course Tutors

Our SMSTS Refresher course tutors are qualified and experienced health and safety professionals with an appropriate background in construction site health and safety. All tutors hold professional membership of the chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

SMSTS Refresher Course Assessment

At the conclusion of the SMSTS Refresher course, delegates are required to undertake a short multiple choice assessment. Those who successfully complete the assessment are awarded the ConstructionSkills Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Refresher Certificate.
