British Safety Council Level 2 Award in Fire Risk Assessment

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsibility for fire risk assessment in any workplace lies with the 'responsible person' and they will be held accountable. The British Safety Council Level 2 Award in Fire Risk Assessment is a health and safety training course which aims to provide the 'responsible person' with knowledge and understanding of the fire risk assessment process and the skills required to undertake a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment.

The specification is based on the Department for Communities and Local Government guidance to the Order and has been accredited by the Qualifications Regulators at Level 2 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework.

The British Safety Council Level 2 Award in Fire Risk Assessment course will allow delegates to:

  • Outline the reasons for conducting fire risk assessments
  • Outline the main legislation relating to fire risk assessments
  • Identify the main fire hazards in the workplace
  • List fire prevention and protection arrangements
  • Describe the stages of a fire risk assessment
  • Outline the circumstances in which a fire risk assessment should be reviewed

Who Should Attend The British Safety Council Level 2 Award in Fire Risk Assessment Course?

This course will benefit anyone involved in undertaking or reviewing fire risk assessments. There are no formal entry requirements for the BSC Level 2 Award in Fire Risk Assessment. However, it is expected that candidates will have a level of literacy and numeracy adequate to cope with the assessment.

Course Material

Each delegate will be issued with a workbook to assist them both during and after the course which will contain information, guidance and forms to assist them. The course is designed to be interactive, allowing delegates the opportunity to develop their skills with the support of the course tutor.

Course Tutors

Our trainers and health and safety consultants are qualified and experienced health and safety professionals with a broad experience of the health and safety industry to complement their training skills. All consultants hold professional membership of the chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and a professional trainer's qualification such as the PTLLS certificate.

Duration

The course will be delivered over one day.

Certification

Candidates will be registered with the British Safety Council. After the course, they will receive a fire risk assessment task electronically which must be completed in their own workplace. Candidates submit their completed fire risk assessment task electronically to the British Safety Council from where it is forwarded to an external examiner for marking. Results and certificates are issued within ten working days.

Upon successful completion of the risk assessment task delegates will be awarded a British Safety Council Level 2 Award in Fire Risk Assessment.
